The internet is a scary place. No, we're not talking about predators out to rob you or offer candy to your kids. We're talking about malware like viruses, worms, and trojans. According to security company Symantec, the amount of malware on the internet has reached an all-time high, with over 1 million malicious programs in circulation.

A surprsingly large number of those threats were developed in the last year, with 711,912 new pieces of malware coming out in 2007 compared with 125,243 in 2006.

The good news for Linux and OS X users is that most of these threats are targeted at computers running Windows. And the good news for Windows users is that most of these applications are variations of older threats, which means if your anti-virus software is up to date, you should be relatively safe.

Of course, Symantec puts reports like this out there in order to sell its own security software. But there are several excellent free anti-virus suites that will also help protect your computer from most threats.

MLM System

by: Tsuyoshi Suzuki

Introduction
Multi Level Marketing is a 60 billion dollar a year industry and provides a ready-made business structure including product support andservicesand it's is a people-to-people business. MLM or Multi Level marketing is a way for the average person, who is teachable, and who has desire and perseverance, to earn extra income from the sanctuary of their home. In fact the concept of MLM is no longer new. For those who may be looking for a few extra hundred or even a thousand a month and don't have the time to work another full time job, This is the best way to earn that money without a huge risk or large investments. To break it all down Multi Level Marketing is a process in which you share information while developing long term relationships.

Product
Products are sold through a network of distributors or salespersons setup to resemble a pyramid: each distributor recruits and trainsadditional distributors and will earn commissions on their sales, aswell as on the sales he or she makes. Products that are attractive to a specific segment of the population, ora particular interest group. Products are sold by individual distributors, rather than out of ashop or store. A common MLM product is some sort of panacea, such as a vitamin or mineral supplement. You could do what most businesses do: either sell it directly to consumers or find others who will buy your product from you and sell it to other people.

This system is system of marketing which puts more emphasis upon the recruiting of distributors than on the selling of products. For every MLM distributor who makes a decent living or even a decent supplemental income, there are at least ten who do little more than buy products and promotional materials, costing them much more than they will ever earn as an MLM agent. At the turn of the century, the average Amway distributor earned about $700 a year in sales, but spent about $1,000 a year on Amway products. You get to buy products, some of which you will be happy with. However, many do continue as happy customers (assuming, as in my own case, that the products have high value). And many enjoy getting some commissions for sales to people they have referred, who became customers, so they can make back or reduce the cost of their products. " In fact, network marketing is a part of the direct sales industry, which includes many types of commission sales businesses in whichproducts are sold directly to customers through distributors who earn commissions on those sales.

System
Multi-level marketing is a system of selling in which you sign up other people to assist you, and they, in turn, recruit others to help them. It is an enterprise system which puts emphasis on recruiting distributors. You need an internet mlm prospecting system. You are 'invited' into the system by a trusted. For the predators behind the system,it was a dream come true. This is a system where people make money by getting other people to become "distributors" for a product. Their only purpose was to raise money and cash in before that system fell apart. The beauty of MLM is that it's a marketing system used by many different types of businesses so, if MLM?s where you want to go, you need only choose a business and an industry that excites you and the potential for your future suddenly explodes. Residual income can happen with this system, but it takes time, and for many of the financially desperate people that enter such schemes, that is time they can't afford to wait on. Often times these systems of selling and/or recruiting are very simple, because it is always important to create a duplicable system that others can easily mirror and follow.

Conclusion
Multi Level Marketing is the opportunity of the new millennium. It is the ideal home business venture for the entrepreneur and the regular person. For those who may be looking for a few extra hundred or even a thousand a month and don't have the time to work another full time job, This system is the best way to earn that money without a huge risk or large investments. The fact of the matter is that Multi Level Marketing is quite easy to understand; it is exactly what it sounds like. The best way to get started in Multi Level Marketing is by making yourself accessible to a large amount of people. If you do not know what MLM is there is no reason to give up.

By Bob Doyle

So you’ve read “Think and Grow Rich”, and you’ve got an intellectual understanding that you “become what you think about”. You have a list of affirmations about wealth, and you recite them every day.
But you still have no money. Wealth doesn’t seem to be anywhere around. What’s the deal here? According to Napoleon Hill, you ought to be filthy stinkin’ rich, right?

Well, here’s the real deal: If you’re not “Wealth Conscious”, than all this thinking, and all this affirming isn’t going to bring you wealth. Thinking, and affirming are simply actions you’re taking. But they are just PART of the sequence of creating wealth. If you skip the FIRST step, you simply can’t get anyv where.

So what’s the first step? Being.
To attract wealth, you first have to BE wealthy. THEN, you think wealthy thoughts, speak wealthy affirmations, and take wealthy action. “But how can I BE wealthy if I’m NOT wealthy?” you ask. Logical question, but it’s based on the false assumption that you don’t have wealth. You HAVE wealth. You’re simply not aware of it. You have constructed a physical reality that prevents you from experiencing Wealth. This can all be explained with the science of Quantum Physics. So let’s look at some very basic concepts of Quantum Physics that will explain what I’m talking about.

First, you probably are aware - at least on an intellectual level - that at a subatomic level, we, and everything else in the Universe, is Energy. When you break everything down, we’re all made of the same stuff, and we’re all connected. The Universe is just this huge ocean of Energy, vibrating at various frequencies which gives the illusion of individuation. That is, we experience the illusion of separateness from each other, physical objects, and wealth because our “senses” are decoding the Energy around us in such a way as to create our physical reality. This all happens in our thoughts. So, to simplify things quickly here for the sake of time (another illusion), “things” only exist because we observe them. It is in our observing that things come into existence. Without our observing, things are simply “waves” - probabilities of existence. Physicists agree on this.

Our beliefs are a very powerful Energy system in our lives. Our beliefs allow or disallow certain experiences in our lives, including wealth. They make up who we are. We “BE” in the world according to our beliefs. If we are being is “someone who is trying to get wealthy by repeating affirmations”, then THAT is what our reality will be. We will just be TRYING to get wealthy.

We have to make the decision that we ARE wealthy, contrary to any external physical evidence. That evidence is an illusion based on the belief systems that have guided who we have been being up to that point. A truly wealthy person isn’t wealthy because they have money. They have money, because they are wealthy! That’s the distinction that most people have backward!

Here’s an example to illustrate what I mean :
Tony Robbins became a millionaire at a very young age. Then, due to a series of poor judgments, he lost it. But within a year, he had it back. How did he do this? HE NEVER LOST HIS WEALTH. He only lost his money, which is just a symbol of wealth! Because he is “Wealth Conscious”, he literally “magnetically attracts” wealth into his life. He truly can’t help it! It’s who he is! And there are thousand out there like him, who attract wealth simply because it’s who they are. You can make the same decision and have the same results.

Conversely, a person who has grown up with “lack consciousness” can win millions in the lottery and lose it within a year. Their consciousness - their ENERGY - simply can’t maintain the attraction to Wealth because they aren’t “wealthy” in who they are being.

But again, Wealth is a decision. If you aren’t currently experiencing wealth, you first need to realize that abundance is everywhere...in fact it’s all there is. Poverty and lack are the illusions. You can shift your consciousness to Wealth - BE Wealth - by simply making the decision, THEN your thoughts, speech, and action will allow you to experience the wealth that is yours!

This is indeed a complex subject which challenges our core belief systems. But it is those very belief systems that keep a person in a state of lack.
Look at your financial situation today. Look at your core beliefs about Wealth and You, and see if your life isn’t a PERFECT reflection of your beliefs. Then, look where those beliefs may have originated. When you can awaken to yourself that your beliefs create your reality, rather than the other way around, you have the option to truly be free to experience a reality of prosperity that you deserve!

THE DIET TO LOWER CHOLESTROL

The diet to lower cholestrol can work and can possibly save a person’s life. It can be safe, easy to use and effective. However, diet alone is not the only factor that will reduce bad LDL cholestrol levels.

Cholestrol is produced by the liver. This is then transported through the body to each cell. Excessive amounts are returned to the liver, but can also attach themselves to the walls of the arteries and cause heart disease. Despite this, cholestrol is vital for certain body functions, including membrane building, bile and hormone production, cell wall construction and the formation of sheaths for nerves. However, excess is not good. High levels of bad cholestrol can also lead to gall stones, mental problems and even high blood pressure in some people.

Some experts recommend lowering fats and high cholestrol foods through low cholestrol diets. However, simply lowering all cholestrol in a diet is unhealthy because it can in fact increase the risk of heart disease and not necessarily aid in the safe loss of weight. It has proven to be dangerous!

Thanks to extensive research, scientists have found a way to create a diet to lower cholestrol by reducing margarine consumption, not butter and eggs as originally thought. A meal or recipe that does not incorporate processed/refined foods, as well as trans/hydrogenated oils and fats are far more beneficial.

The important criteria when cooking recipes is to find ones that lower bad LDL cholestrol, but increase good HDL cholestrol. LDL that attaches to artery walls acts like plaque does on teeth. It can partially or completely block not only arteries, but veins and capillaries, limiting or halting blood flow to body cells, organs and most importantly the heart and brain. Such build up can result in heart attacks and strokes.

The advantage of increased HDL levels is that this good cholesterol wanders through the bloodstream, collecting unwanted LDL cholesterol and returning for disposal to the liver. It acts as ‘Mother Nature’s’ garbage collectors. As a result, scientists are recommending adding additional nutrients to such diets to further aid in lowering LDL levels, such as Omega 3, 6, and 9, an essential part of nutrition. This can be found in organic oils like flax seed, or can be bought in pill form from any drug store.

Other recommendations include:
Using extra virgin olive oil
Avoid virgin olive oil
Use plenty of garlic, or take a garlic supplement
Using Policosanol supplements, taken from sugar can
Using guggulipid, an Indian herb
taking CoQ10 pills, which lowers triglyceride levels and improves heart muscle strength
taking Vitamin E to improve blood circulation
taking Vitamin B3 and C to assist in further LDL reduction
only use recipes that clearly use foods that lower bad LDL and increase good HDL

Eating meals from healthy cholesterol-lowering diet plans, combined with the needed supplements and foods, will not only get overall cholesterol levels to where they should be. Most importantly, they can also assist in reducing hypertension and help with weight loss.

20 Dieting Success Tips

SUCCESS TIPS

Dieting is not easy. If it were, we would probably all be thin. Since we are not, here are some tips that successful people use to lose weight so that others can benefit, too.

SUCCESS TIP NO. 1: DRINK 8-10 GLASSES OF WATER EACH DAY

Okay, for many people this is a big problem. Water doesn't taste all that great generally because water doesn't really taste like anything. Drinking water 8 to 10 times each day gets easier the more you actually do it. It is simply a matter of conditioning your taste buds, and yourself, so that it becomes easier to do. Once you get started, you will begin to crave water.

To begin with, you should drink a glass of water in the morning first thing, before you eat. This is probably the easiest glass you will drink all day and it will help you remember to drink water all day long. Better yet, why not drink two glasses?

If you really cannot bear the taste of water, try using a water purifying pitcher or filter. You can also add a few drops of lemon or lime to your water รข€“ but no sugar or sweetener! Ice also helps.

Check out flavored waters on the market, too. Just keep an eye out for additives. ....

Debt Reduction Plan

Debt reduction plans offer hope to people that think paying off debts is impossible and creating one is easy if the debtor has the right information and the right organizational plan. It is important to be organized because if not, creating debt reduction plans can be hard and discouraging. These strategies are only successful if the debtor is committed to success. Find a Godly person to pray with for support and accountability. Pray for God's encouragement in time of financial stress. God will teach discipline and contentment when trusting in Him and knowing that He is good.

First, understand what the income is and how much is needed to spend every month for mandatory bills like mortgage, utilities, and food. Take what is left over and that will be the amount to use toward payments. It is important to have an amount to work with. A debt reduction plan is no good if there aren't funds to carry out the plan. A debt reduction plan may not pay off debt as soon as desired, but if making unrealistic goals anyone will get discouraged and maybe stop paying altogether or create more trouble somewhere else. The goal is to create a situation where there will be no need for this type of organization.

Second, figure out which payments are most immediate or will soon go to collections. Concentrate on these first, but don't neglect the other debts either. Good debt reduction plans pay on all debts owed. One debt reduction plan strategy is to figure out how much to pay to whom is to split the money up into percentages. This way the debtor will not be discouraged about how little can be sent. This strategy also helps when income fluctuates. After deciding on the exact percentages to send to each one, write out how to do that every month. This will create discipline to send out payments on certain days of the month keeping in line with the debt reduction plan. Third, call creditors and tell them about the debt reduction plans. Some creditors will honor these efforts by lowering interest rates or the minimum payment to avoid late fees. Be courteous and grateful for anything they do. The main focus of this financial goal is to make progress no matter how slowly. Even if a person can only make payments of ten dollars a month to each creditor, this is better than not paying at all.

One of the world's largest chocolate makers, Britain's Cadbury, has become the latest victim of China's tainted milk scandal, ordering a recall of its Chinese-made products after questionable findings in tests.
Two U.S. food makers, meanwhile, were investigating Indonesian claims that high traces of the industrial chemical melamine had been found in Chinese-made Oreos, M&Ms and Snickers, but stressed Monday the same goods had tested negative in other Asian countries.

The milk scandal erupted earlier this month when China's public learned that melamine had been found in milk powder and was linked to kidney stones in children. Contamination has since turned up in liquid milk, yogurt and other products made with milk.
Four deaths have been blamed on the bad milk and some 54,000 children have developed kidney stones or other illnesses after drinking tainted baby formula.

A Cadbury spokesman said Monday preliminary test results showed traces of melamine in chocolates produced at the company's factory in Beijing, but said it was not yet known how much of the chemical was in them.
"These are preliminary findings from tests. And it's too early to say where the source was or the extent of it," the spokesman said, declining to be named because of company policy.

The British manufacturer said it recalled 11 types of chocolate made at the Beijing factory. The recalled chocolates are distributed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, Nauru and Christmas Island, the company said in a statement.
It added, however, that Cadbury factories outside of China don't use Chinese dairy products and that all its dairy suppliers have been cleared by government milk testing. It did not say what governments.
Experts say some amount of melamine, which is used to make plastics, may be transferred from the environment during food processing.

Ingesting a small amount of the chemical poses no danger, but health experts say melamine can cause kidney stones and lead to kidney failure. Infants are particularly vulnerable.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's Food and Drug Monitoring Agency said a dozen products distributed nationwide, including M&Ms, Oreos and Snickers repeatedly tested positive for melamine last week.
Mars Inc., which makes M&Ms and Snickers, and Kraft Foods Inc., which makes Oreos, said they would comply with the Indonesian government's recall but questioned the test results.

Mars said in a statement issued in Hong Kong that tests by the governments of Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea and Malaysia had cleared Mars chocolate and other candy products. Chinese regulators and a German laboratory also found milk powder supplied to Mars' factory in China free of melamine, the company said.
"The vastly different results give Mars significant reason to question the validity of the Indonesian laboratory results," the statement said.
Kraft took a similar position.
"We are trying to understand what methodology was used," Tod Gimbel, Kraft's director of corporate affairs for the Asia Pacific, told the AP by phone from Singapore.

The two companies said they would conduct their own tests and were looking into the possibility the suspect products were counterfeit.
Meanwhile, police in China's Hebei province arrested 22 people and seized more than 480 pounds (220 kilograms) of melamine in the raid, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
Xinhua said 19 of the 22 detainees were managers of pastures, breeding farms and purchasing stations. It did not say when the raids took place.
Authorities believe suppliers added melamine, which is rich in nitrogen, to watered-down milk to deceive quality tests for protein.

The advice often given to young couples starting off in life is “Not to buy what you cannot afford”. The same basic advice should be heeded by many. If you cannot afford it- then do not buy the item. But what of investing in your own future in terms of an investment in your personal education or training as well as investments in your own personal career. Is this not getting ahead in life? Is this not money well spent? Even if you have to borrow and go into debt is this not money well spent?

If at the end of the day , year or decade you will be much further ahead in position , salary as well as benefits in addition to “job” and “personal” satisfaction is this not money, time and effort well spent and allocated. ? Indeed it is and can well be.

In the case of your education a dollar borrowed now will result in better jobs- that you will most likely find more challenging and enjoyable , and have a lot more financial reward than a job on the status scale – say as a bus driver or a technician doing oil jobs at your local Wal-Mart. In the case of a vehicle or car loan it may be a godsend. If your vehicle is not reliable – then how can you show up on time, keep your job without an image and reputation of reliability? Not only do you want to keep your employment and income associated with the job but also the job references from your employment superiors for use with other employers for better positions and pay, or for promotion within your present organization. You may even run into a case of promotion within your present firm to another branch office or plant. Not having reliable transport may limit your promotion offerings and flexibility. In addition, if you take out a loan to purchase that vehicle, you may well have upscaled and upgraded your car or SUV, from the models that you most likely would have purchased. By doing so, and driving a higher grade auto model, you may well appear as a more established, senior, more experienced and established employee as well as individual. Fortunately or unfortunately in life most comes down to appearances and perceptions.

There may be a much better and / or better paying job but its way across town, or in an area not served by the bus transit system. Or it may be the case that there is bus service - but if devours a good two to three hours a day of travel time. Good bye to your personal social life. You may have all the money in the world – the wealth of Bill Gates Himself and yet no time or energy to enjoy it. So much for all that pay of that new wonderful job.

A real step foreword as they say. It is always a case of reward versus cost or cost versus benefit. It is a case by case analysis.

In addition you should think of additional or add on costs. Do not stretch yourself too thin – financially. A course at university may not be offered in your calendar year – you will have to complete your schooling fully at a later date than expected. A course may be full – ditto for time delay. Or you may even have to repeat a course or change plans along the way necessitating longer time duration of studies. Leave a buffer of funding both for yourself and as well with the agency that provided the loan – be at bank, savings and loan, credit union or even parents or relatives. Don’t break the bank so to speak at the first step. The same analysis of benefit versus costs prevails in the car / transport / job scenario situation. Many people will drive across town for a bargain to save a dollar and spend $ 10 on gas costs in the process. Incorporate the price of gas into your final net salary not as an aside.

Lastly and most importantly – always pay your bills. Never take on more than you can chew, or in this case afford. Before making that commitment for a loan or undertaking always evaluate carefully before signing on the bottom line. It’s not only a matter of convenience. Your credibility itself is on the line, in addition to your personal honor and integrity and reputation. Pay your bills on time – even earlier than required. This applies to all loans – whether they are for rent, mortgage, utility bills, bank loans, charge card payments or student loans. If you cannot pay in full, then at least pay a bit above the minimum payment. If you are really stuck then contact the lender. Explain the situation honestly. Make a commitment and follow through. Remember the whole point of the exercise was your self improvement – an investment in yourself. To not take the exercise seriously is to shortchange yourself and your future opportunities as well as income stream in the future. To borrow for yourself and personal gain make prudent sense.

Personal Finance Tips

Personal finance tips! Everyone wants to know how to hold onto their money. Unfortunately, Americans aren’t very good at it. These 10 rules of personal finance could help.

Everyone wants to know how to hold onto their hard-earned dollars. Unfortunately, most Americans aren’t very good at it. The United States has one of the lowest savings rates in the world. Meanwhile, American households carry some of the biggest debts, primarily on credit cards.

These 10 rules of personal finance are intended to help.

  1. Pay yourself first. Whether it’s through your employer-sponsored 401(k), an individual retirement account, or passbook savings account, sock away at least 10 percent of your income for you. After all, you don’t work just to pay bills; it just feels that way a lot of the time.
  2. Save three to six months of worth of income for emergencies. And don’t touch it unless it’s really an emergency. Saving for a vacation or new wardrobe do not constitute emergencies. You never know when you could lose your job, become disabled or sick, or have a major medical or family emergency.
  3. Take advantage of your employer-sponsored 401(k) plan. Contribute at least as much as your employer will match, which is typically between 3 and 10 percent. Consult your the human resources department at your work for details on how that particular 401(k) plan works.
  4. Pay off credit cards with the highest interest rate first. Obviously, there’s no sense in paying off a 12 percent card before a 15 percent card. Make minimum payments on the 12 percent card until the one with the 15 percent rate is paid off.
  5. Come up with a budget and stick to it. You can use a computer program or just pen and paper. But do it. Figure out your income and expenses and what you have left over to spend as you wish.
  6. If you have trouble determining where your money goes, particularly cash, then keep a spending journal. Document every expenditure for at least a two-week period. This will help you in coming up with a budget as well.
  7. Don’t borrow from your 401(k) or retirement plans. This money, after all, is for your retirement. Plus, the tax implications and early withdrawal penalties are so hefty that you really are giving up a lot for a short-term cash infusion. You should have a separate savings account for your current needs.
  8. Pay in cash when and as often as you can. It’s amazing how good that feels.
  9. Shop around for the best credit card deals and banking programs. By shaving off a few percentage points on your credit card or avoiding bank fees, you can save hundreds of dollars a year.
  10. Avoid peer pressure. Your friend might be able to afford five new pairs of leather boots, but that doesn’t mean you can. Who even knows if your friend can and who cares. Take care of yourself first and don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. There will always be people better off and worse off than you are.

We’ve all been there… Consumer Complaint Land; a product or service we paid for wasn’t delivered or didn’t perform as promised. And while it may be tempting to use that opportunity to contact a customer service rep to blow off a little steam, it probably wont help you get what you want. Successful complaining is more of an art than a science, but we’ve compiled a short list of simple tips for consumer complaints that should help you get what you want with a little less hassle, frustration, and time.

Satisfaction Services, a company that specialize in customer service evaluations (finding a company’s service weakness and fixing the problem), helped us compile this list of 4 simple tips to aid you in successfully complaining.

Know what you want - If you’re certain about the specific kind of restitution you’re looking for, ask for it specifically. Want a refund? Ask for one. Want a free month’s cable? Ask for that.

Be polite and professional - The more courteous you can be, the more likely the customer service rep you’re speaking with will want to help you.

Document everything - Keeping a paper trail is crucial to keep track of what you complained about, the response you got, and anything the company may have offered you.
Be persistent - Many companies bank on complainers simply going away, not finishing the phone call, not waiting on hold for 2 hours. So… beat them at their own game. Be persistent, until you get what you want.

Jean Chatzky shares advice to save your finances from critical condition

Health insurance is a big ball of wax — so big, in fact, that many of us put it on the back burner rather than deal with it. But it's one of the most important decisions we have to make as consumers. Not only does it determine the care that we receive should our health take a wrong turn, but it can be the wild card in your financial plan. Roughly half of all bankruptcies filed in the United States are caused by illness and medical bills.

Whether our next president will be able to wrangle our healthcare system remains to be seen. Until then, choosing the right healthcare plan remains one of your most important decisions — not just for those people who are selecting from an employer's benefits menu, but for those 46.6 million uninsured Americans who are trying to put at least some coverage in place.

Here's how to whittle down the choices and keep costs for premiums, co-pays and prescriptions from draining your bank account:

Location
Insurance plans and prices vary widely by state. New York, for example, has some of the most expensive individual plans in the country, largely due to its guaranteed-issue policy that requires companies to insure everyone, regardless of health.

The best way to kick off your shopping is by doing a little research on your state's insurance Web site, says Kimberly Lankford, author of "The Insurance Maze: How You Can Save Money on Insurance and Still Get the Coverage You Need" (Kaplan Business, 2006). A good site will list companies available in your area, prices for both individual and family plans, and any lower-cost options your state offers if you meet certain income requirements.

Write out your priorities
Do you love your current doctors? Then you should choose an insurance company that covers their service. "It's so important that you make a list of the top five things important to you, and bring them up to the broker or insurance company," advised Michelle Katz, a healthcare consultant and author of "101 Health Insurance Tips" (LifeTips.com, Inc., 2007). This way you can really start to narrow things down by your needs, whether that means low premiums, customer service or the doctor you've been seeing since college.

Don't be afraid to use a broker
An insurance broker can be a huge help. He can do the legwork to find a well-suited insurance company, help shop for the best rates, and explain the ins and outs of your plan. To find a reputable broker, check credentials with either the National Association of Insurance Underwriters (nahu.org) or the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (naic.org). You also want to make sure he has a large "book," the industry term for the network of providers he works with. More options mean a better deal and a better fit.

Ask for a "free look"
Lots of things come with a trial period — your gym membership, magazine subscription and virtually anything hawked on an infomercial — but did you know that you can sometimes test-drive your insurance plan? They call this a free look, and it basically means that you can get your money back if you're unsatisfied within a set period of time, explained Katz. The key here, though, is staying on top of things and making sure you follow the guidelines. Restrictions vary by company and plan, but you could have anywhere from one to six weeks to ask for a refund — probably in writing.

Consider a Health Savings Account
An HSA is a great option for people who generally only have to whip out their insurance card once or twice a year. Maybe you go for a yearly checkup, and then to the doctor if you have the flu. It goes hand-in-hand with an insurance policy that has a high deductible ($1,100 for individuals; $2,200 for families), but low premiums. The money you save on premiums each month can be deposited into the HSA pre-tax, where it grows tax-deferred. You then use it to pay for any unexpected medical expenses. The bonus? Once you turn 65, you can withdraw any money you didn't use and spend it on anything you want, including funding your retirement.

Negotiate
You've chosen a plan, but you're still not home free. Bills can pop up everywhere, from services that aren't covered to doctor and hospital co-pays to costs for prescriptions. Many insurers have instituted a system of preferred pricing when it comes to prescriptions, meaning that if yours isn't generic and on a list, it could still cost a bundle.

"Now, even people with employer coverage are having to be smart shoppers for prescription drugs, especially if they have a regular medication that is pretty expensive," said Lankford. Keep your costs low by shopping around (prices can vary among pharmacies — your best bet is a discount store or price club) and asking for generics whenever available. You can also have your doctor write out a prescription for a longer period of time, so you'll get a 90-day supply instead of a 30, advised Katz.

The co-pay will be the same. And don't be afraid to negotiate with your doctor if you're paying out of pocket. In a recent Harris Interactive poll, three out of five people who did so received a discount. With the cost of a single visit often tallying over $200, it's definitely worth a try.

“Stop Unfair Practices In Credit Cards Act” was announced. If passed, the legislation introduced by Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) will stop credit card companies from charging certain fees and interest rate increases.

The act proposes to eliminate several costly practices of credit card companies.

  • Interest rate charges on purchases that were made before the rate became effective. If you make a purchase on May 1 and the interest rate increases on May 2, it makes sense that your purchase should not be subject to the new interest rate.
  • No fees ever for paying your credit card bill. Many creditors charge a fee for various methods of payment, especially payments made by telephone. The new bill would prohibit these types of fees.
  • Double cycle billing and other billing methods that charge interest on balances that have already been paid. This, I believe, is robbery. There’s no legitimate reason for charging consumers interest on a balance they’ve already paid.

While I agree that lawmakers should be involved in regulating the credit card business, I worry that some laws make it easy for credit card users to spend irresponsibly.

  • Penalty interest rate increases will be limited to 7%. This would prohibit doubling and tripling interest rates because of a single late payment, over-the-limit charge, etc.

I like the idea of a staggered increase of 1-2% per incident with a cap of 7% for two reasons. Cardholders who only miss one payment in the life of their credit card shouldn’t receive the same penalty as someone who is chronically late with payments. I also believe that if subsequent incidents aren’t subject to an interest rate increase, cardholders don’t have as severe consequences to face when they miss a payment or go over their limit.

  • Over the limit fees will only be charged once unless the cardholder makes additional charges while the balance is over the limit. If there’s no penalty for remaining above the credit limit, how many cardholders will be motivated to reduce their over-the-limit balances?

The fear of multiple over-the-limit fees keeps some credit card users from maxing out their credit cards. It’s possible that reducing the number of times the fee can be charged will create the notion that it’s not so bad to max out your credit card.

If penalties and fees are forcing some credit card users to spend responsibly, what’s going to keep them from paying late and going over the credit limit when the penalties are reduced or removed?

Cut Back On Sodium In Your Diet

Few people doubt the importance of sodium in one's diet. Sodium is crucial to the operation of many metabolic and physiologic processes in your body. However, too much sodium can put a person at additional risk for high blood pressure (hypertension), especially as they grow older. The recommended amount of sodium in a day for any individual depends on age, ethnicity, and other physiologic needs.

How to cut back on sodium in your diet

Most people tend to put table salt on their food to add taste. This is something that needs to be minimized as it is a one of the biggest sources of sodium in anyone's diet. Ordinary table salt is approximately 40% sodium. If you know you are at risk of high blood pressure, fast food should be avoided and prepared food in general (chips, crackers, nuts, soups) should be eaten sparingly as these tend to be very high in sodium. One example of a low sodium diet breakfast would involve an orange, a piece of toast with jelly, a cup of cereal with skim milk, and coffee. A low sodium lunch could include unsalted tuna salad on wheat toast with lettuce, skim milk, a peach, and unsalted crackers.

The Low Sodium Diet is a diet for everyone

If you have reason to believe that you are at risk for high blood pressure—such as having a family history of hypertension, or known risk factors such as being African American—you should consult your physician to outline a diet plan that caters precisely to your needs. However, if you're just looking to improve your health by adopting a diet that is lower in sodium, the essence of the diet, as its name implies, simply involves avoiding salty foods.

Prime time is a concept that has been understood by television advertisers for years. There are simply times of day (or night) where more people are tuning in, and advertisers covet those times since their ads will reach more people if they are aired during those times. Furthermore, advertisers also know that different types of consumers are watching at different times. People watching at 3 a.m. are better candidates for sleep aid and mattress ads. Those watching at noon may respond better to ads for vocational schools. Advertisers try to find time-slots on the television schedule appropriate for the products they are selling.

“While prime time for television is in the evening, prime time for the Internet is during the day, when people may be surfing at work.”

Day-part Targeting for Internet Advertisers
What time-slot placement is to television advertisers, day-part targeting is to Internet advertisers. The idea here is that a website will have different ads on its pages depending on what time of day it is. This is a boon for both advertiser and hosting site. The hosting site can have more ads on its pages, while the advertiser doesn't need to pay for having its ad on the site at a time when no motivated consumers will be browsing. The hosting site may also gain some consumers across time periods who come back to see the new ads that appear later in the day, which benefits both the host site and the advertiser.

How Day-part Targeting Works
Just as with television, there are certain prime times for Internet advertising and certain times that are appropriate for specific products or targeted demographics. While prime time for television is in the evening, prime time for the Internet is during the day, when people may be surfing at work.

Day-part Targeting Issues
Since the idea of day-part targeting is relatively new, a good cost-model has not yet been generated. Those prime daytime hours may at some point need to generate a higher cost per click than ads posted at a less favorable time. As day-part targeting becomes more popular, advertisers and web hosts are likely to try out a number of cost-models until the most effective one is found.

The internet has changed our buying habits. Many people have found the convenience of online shopping to be a great experience. You can easily click and see the product. You have a fun time shopping, browsing, reading and getting informed about products. And you don’t have to take time out from your busy schedule to fight traffic, crowds and lines to buy the perfect gift for your recipient.

No wonder Internet business generated $301 billion in revenue last year, by a University of Texas estimate.
If you compare shopping online to offline you would think as far as security goes, it would favor offline shopping, right? Not really.

In the years past, shoppers were more reluctant to do their shopping online – now things have changed greatly. And that confidence in consumers directly reflects the enormous growth of online sales.

I have a friend who took his wife out for a romantic evening to a local restaurant. The last place you would expect credit card fraud to happen. By the time he noticed they had charged him double the amount for their dinner, it was too late to go back to the restaurant. He rang me and we concluded that it must be a mistake. It was later that we found out that the restaurant owner’s reputation was a bit shaky. Apparently he frequently overcharged customers in the hope they wouldn’t notice.

I don’t know. It’s a funny world we live in.
Does this mean the internet is safe? Relatively yes, but don’t forget, the Internet is an open field and there are some bad elements out there.

We have been shopping online for years. We never had a problem with credit card fraud on the Internet. But then again, we always take precautions. From this point forward, you will see 10 checkpoints online merchants have to pass to secure our business...

Will your credit card details be safe?
Reputable companies online know that one of the things preventing customers from placing orders with them is customers not been sure whether their credit card details will be safe. Responsible companies have taken this concern onboard and have set up their systems to provide the customer with maximum security.

How would you know if you are entering your payment details on a secure page?
You should see a picture of a lock on the bottom right hand side of your screen. This lock will appear on the page that you fill in when ordering and ensures that your name, address and credit card information is being sent to the online store through encrypted code. This encrypted code means that a hacker will not be able to steal your credit card information.

Does the online store value your privacy and confidentiality?
Prior to the internet days, when I used to order something from a mail order company, mysteriously I would be sent advertising from companies that I hadn’t done business with. Back then I didn’t know that companies sold your personal information for advertising purposes to other companies.

Receiving junk mail was annoying but because of the cost involved, it didn’t happen constantly. Imagine now if you do business online with a company that doesn’t respect your privacy and sells your email address.

Next time you open your email software, you are bombarded with emails ranging from a dozen to hundreds. Now that’s not annoying – it’s intolerable.
So moral of the story here, make sure your email address won’t be sold. Ensure the online store has a privacy statement which would state they will maintain your personal details in the strictest privacy and confidentiality.

Does the online store have contact details?
You may think, of course an online store would display their contact details on their website. You would be surprised. I was. No email address, nothing. This is a sure red flag.
Reputable companies will have contact details.

Do they have a refund policy?
Offline stores have a refund policy and you go into the store, physically select the product and are then allowed to return it for whatever reason. If a refund policy is important in offline stores, it’s twice as important for online stores.

The internet in convenience surpasses the offline world when it comes to shopping - but one thing it can’t match is that offline you can physically touch the product. Therefore a refund policy of 30 days is great, more is better. No refund policy and I would stay away

Do they send you some sort of confirmation when you place your order?
When you place your order what you need is something to tell you they have receive it, a receipt if you like.
A reputable company will either issue you one via email or display a new page of their website where they thank you and tell you the order went through okay and your product is on its way.

When do they deliver?
What times do they deliver during the day? Do they deliver on the weekends? Can you choose a time to have your gift delivered? Will it be delivered personally to the recipient intended or will the courier leave it outside their door?

How will your gift arrive?
If its flowers, will it come with a vase or in a nice box or wrapped? Will your bouquet contain flower care instructions? How about flower food to make your flowers last longer?

If you’ve ordered another gift product, will they wrap it? In what kind of material will they deliver it? Do they tell you these things on their website?
How long have they been in business?

This may not mean too much. There are companies that start off and surpass all others. But perhaps for your peace of mind, you may want to use an online store that has been in business for some years. To check the history of the company is easy.
You can go to networksolutions.com and click on "whois" on the top bar. You will be taken to a page where you can enter the web address of the online store you want to check and you will receive the relevant information.

Is the online store’s site easy to use?
Is navigating easy? Is looking for products easy? Do their graphics download in a reasonable time? A sure sign of an amateur sight is if they have their website cluttered with information.

Have they gotten any bad reviews?
A reputable company isn’t necessary one that hasn’t any bad reviews to its name. It’s virtually impossible to please everyone.
There have been companies I have bought from and absolutely loved. So it surprises me sometimes when I stumble on a bad review about their products or even bad comments about them.
So when is a bad comment about a company worth considering? I take note of reviews where the writer complains of:

Hidden Porn on YouTube

Cuban noted that the site somehow can't manage to uphold copyright while at the same time managing just fine to eliminate any trace of pornography. When Eun credited YouTube's porn-free existence to subscribers who vigilantly police the site, Cuban could not suppress his incredulity.

"Oh, come on," he muttered into the microphone.

It gets better. In defense of his contention, Eun noted, "There actually is porn on YouTube because it gets uploaded with other content." Turns out if you've got enough time on your hands you can monitor the recently uploaded videos, and if you're quick enough, spot offenidng material after it is flagged in that queue, but not yet taken down.

Way to advertise, David. He sparred with Cuban as well about the efficacy of YouTube's content identification tool. Before the exchange got too heated, Eun assured the audience he and Cuban were still tight. "We're having dinner after this," he said.

Video will be available here soon.

Addendum: Did YouTube overstate just how miniscule a percentage of its video it is monetizing? Here's Silicon Alley Insider with more.

credit card debt consolidation? Should it be considered as the last option? When do we start looking for credit card debt consolidation? Who should we opt for, banks or financial institutions or credit card companies? All these are common doubts about credit card debt consolidation in the minds of people.

Why it is Necessary
Along with the convenience that it offers, credit cards also bring about an unhealthy spending habit. Since we do not have to pay it right away, we feel an urge to buy things that we otherwise would never have purchased. But when the payment comes along, we have a lot of other expenses to consider. So the credit card debt simply piles on and on. Each month we pay off a good amount in interest. But the principal amount is still there lying untouched. If you have three to four such cards, then a substantial amount of your monthly income will go towards credit card debts. Then it is time you considered credit card debt consolidation.

What is Credit Card Debt Consolidation?
A credit card debt consolidation service is a service in which a lender pays off all the loans and debts that you have currently. Then all you need to do is make one monthly payment to the new lender. All your monthly payments are consolidated into one.

How Is It Beneficial?
There are several benefits of credit card debt consolidation. You will get much better interest rates on credit card consolidation than on the cards themselves. So you will be saving a lot of money on interest rates plus the finance charges. So you will see a major difference in your monthly payments now. It will be much lower than what you are paying currently. Also you no longer have to face irritating reminder calls, collection agencies etc. Now all that you need to do is make one monthly payment. So it reduces the stress by more than half. Even if you are unable to make a payment this month, then all you need to do is make one phone call. Whereas earlier you had to make several phone calls just to let the lenders know that you won't be paying this month.

Which Agencies?
There are many banks and financial agencies which will offer credit card debt consolidation services. But you are more likely to receive better terms and conditions from credit card companies themselves. So it is very important that you get quotes from several agencies that are willing to lend to you before you decide on which one to accept. Check online as many companies now have online quotes as well.

Terms and Conditions
You should be extremely comfortable with the company that you are dealing with. The lender should guide you through the entire process and also explain all the clauses to you in detail. If there is any clause which you cannot understand then too you need to discuss it in detail and make sure that you understand the clause. If you have a good credit history then you should negotiate with the company on the rates that you are getting. You should be getting the best rates according to your credit record. On the other hand, if you have an ordinary credit history or a bad one, then the rates will be slightly higher than standard rates.

To some, “cheap-low cost term life insurance” means low quality and to others it simply means low cost. Most would agree that “cheap” means price is more of a focus than quality. And sometimes price really is more important than quality. However, the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ can apply to anything, even cheap health insurance.

You might decide to take your chances going cheap with less important goods and services. Sometimes cheap is great. Off-season designer clothes and accessories can be both cheap and high quality! Anytime you can buy a name brand product at a discount you’re getting the best of both worlds. In addition to designer goods, loans and mortgages are even better when they’re cheap. Do you really care if you send your mortgage payment to a name brand bank or a small credit union? All you care about is getting the best possible rate, right?

But with certain other products and services buying the “cheapest” option may be a waste of money. Insurance is a prime example. When purchasing health insurance, homeowner’s insurance or auto insurance, you’re buying the promise that the insurer will be there for you when you need them. Finding a reputable company is key to preserving your peace of mind.

There can be risks associated with buying cheap health insurance. The point of insurance is to pay a relatively small premium for the promise the insurance company will cover the costs for any large claims you may have in the future. Obviously, an insurance company should be financially stable. There are consumer watchdog companies such as AM Best that rate the financial stability of insurance companies. For AM Best to consider an insurance company financially secure, they must have a minimum rating of B+. You can review their website to learn more about how they rate insurance companies.

Another consumer advocacy group that reports on insurance companies is the Better Business Bureau. The BBB is, among other things, a place where consumers can voice complaints against a variety of companies. Before you purchase a cheap health insurance plan, you may consider researching the BBB website to determine if other consumers have filed complaints against the insurance company for issues such as non-payment of claims.

When it comes to health insurance, don’t automatically look for the cheapest plan. Consider your and your family’s needs and look for a plan that you can rely on to meet those needs. If you’re looking for an affordable health insurance alternative, consider a plan with a higher deductible. High deductible health plans are offered by a variety of the nation’s leading insurance companies.

While low cost term life insurance-health insurances may be unrealistic, and undesirable, you can find affordable and reliable health insurance plans to fit your budget. Visit eHealthInsurance for free online quotes and start looking for your quality affordable health insurance today.

If you're keeping money in the bank, you know how low rates are. And if you've done any food shopping lately, you know how high prices are. But what you may not have considered is what low savings rates and high inflation can do to your savings.

Think about this... the inflation rate this year is hovering around 4%, while the average bank money market account is paying less than 2. In other words: your money is loosing value faster than your interest rate can compensate: you're going backwards.

What should you do? Well, you could consider stocks. Over time, they beat the rate of inflation, but this year the stock market is loosing money.

In the past, you could've just bought government I-Bonds. They pay a fixed interest rate, plus an inflation kicker... so you were guaranteed to beat inflation. But, not any more.

10 years ago, when I-Bonds first came out, the fixed rate was around 3%. So, you would earn 3% on top of the rate of inflation. Now, I-Bonds carry a fixed rate of 0%. So, instead of a return guaranteed to beat inflation, now you're guaranteed not to. Looking for an alternative? Many professionals recommend CD's.

So, the conservative investor has to think savvy. Go bank to your bank and, if you're not happy with your interest rate, shop it around. Odds are that, with a good online resource, you'll be able to find a bank paying 40-50% more.

Google AdWords The largest pay per click search engine is Google AdWords. In less than 5 minutes you can be driving traffic to your affiliate site through Google. To be successful with Google AdWords you must first understand how their system works, and how it differs from traditional pay per click engines. In this section I’ll give you an overview of the system and give you specific strategies to get the most out of your Google AdWords campaign.

Google Search Network When you advertise with Google, not only do your ads appear alongside the organic search results on Google.com, they also appear on syndicated partner sites like: AOL, Ask.com, Lycos, and iWon. Together, these sites make up what is known as the Google Search Network. Your ads will appear on the Google Search Network when somebody explicitly searches for a particular keyword. Google claims on their website that with the Google search Network they reach over 80% of US Internet users every month

Google Content Network In addition to the Search Network, Google offers the Google Content Network. The Content Network is made up of thousands of sites, large and small, professional and personal, in every category imaginable. Your ads may be displayed on the Content Network when Google finds web pages that have content similar to your keywords. I have included a screenshot below that shows what these ads look like and where they can appear:

With the Content Network, you have less control over your ads than you do with the Search Network. Conversion rates tend to be lower because users aren’t looking for something specific like they are with search. Instead, they are simply browsing web pages of interest and clicking on contextually relevant ads that appeal to them. Affiliates who are new to paid search should avoid using the Google Content Network until they gain experience. Contextual advertising is completely different than search advertising and needs to be monitored more closely. When you are setting up your advertising campaigns you can select to opt-out of the Content Network. For those who decide to try the Content Network, I recommend that you setup separate bids for your ads. The value of a click in the Content Network is almost always worth less than a click in the Search Network. Adjust your bids accordingly.

Porn Youtube 2 Million Members

XTube, which promotes itself with the tagline "the greatest thing since the orgasm", was first registered as a site in November 2004. Like its much better-known and family-friendly rival, XTube allows users to upload their own video content, and claims that it will remove any copyrighted content from commercial adult movies on receipt of an official complaint.

Unlike YouTube, it doesn't care how many people appear naked in those videos, though it does bar illegal content such as child pornography and extreme violence.

That approach appears to be slowly paying dividends. "Early March we broke the 2 million member mark," it announced in its site newsletter earlier this week. That still makes it a minnow next to YouTube, which has more than 130 million visitors each month.

Future expansion plans for XTube include a "sex wiki" with contributions from its user community, and XTube Local, a directory service for adult stores and clubs.

A recent study by TopTenReviews estimated that the online porn industry is worth more than $US4.9 billion, with Internet porn sites attracting 72 million visitors a month. However, many online businesses resist involvement with adult content to avoid legal problems and community criticism.

Open DNS free porn filter

prostate cancer treatments cancer prostate treatment treatments for prostate cancer

It’s been over a year since I recommended this filtering service, and I’ve been continually impressed ever since. OpenDNS is completely free, a snap to set up, always fast and filters out a whole load of phishing sites and other internet nasties. Of course, the adult site blocking feature is of most interest to me, and it just works really well.

One recent addition to the service is a nifty little download for users with a dynamic IP address. The only complaint I ever heard was from clients using AOL or other ISPs who don’t provide a fixed address; the filter would work intermittently and couldn’t be relied on. The free IP update tool resolves this problem.

So OpenDNS is a very good idea for anyone working to overcome porn addiction. Yes we can all turn it off when the porn urges are biting, but that’s a little bit of inconvenience. As I’ve said before, that bit of inconvenience can make the difference between lapsing back into habit, or reminding yourself that you don’t really want to go there.

Porn addiction recovery is a lot more that installing internet filters, but they are a resource that no recovering addict should be without. OpenDNS rocks, and once again, no I don’t have any connection or affiliation with them!

What I wanted to say is that I am going to blog again in this blog. So if you guys happen to visit my blog then you are always welcome to read my blog anytime.

Web Design Tips

While designing web sites it is important to keep in the mind the platform, popularly used web browsers and of course the users. One more important element of website design is search engines compatibility, since eventually the search engines will index the site to present it to the users in a search. How much the search engines give importance to your website depends a lot on the how the website is designed. These tips will help web designers to justify what is stated above.

1) Use colors carefully such that they are brand appropriate or do justice to whatever the site is providing. This applies to the text, text fonts, background and the content provided.

2) Use tag lines, which highlight the essential features of the site and catch the attention of the readers, since visitors do not read the text fully. Set your content in proper paragraphs and columns for increased readability and appearance.

3) Avoid Flash and client side scripts on main pages. Do not use FRAMES since search engines find it difficult to index pages using the above technologies.

4) Use high-resolution graphics which are light in weight for faster downloading. The images should add to the content and help in describing the sites resources and services. The images should be appropriately placed on the web pages. Use alt text to describe the images properly for photo optimization.

5) For search engine optimization use descriptive title and meat tags since the search engine use these to some extent to index and rank your website.

6) Avoid using gate away or doorway pages which lead to the main page this is spamming and your website may be banned by major search engines. Do not resort to cloaking and over use of keywords.

7) Most important do not copy content from other websites to avoid facing duplicate content penalty. This was the practice widely resorted to earlier. It is wiser to have a content writer in the web development team.
